About Jill Rucker Simmons

Jill Rucker Simmons I make art for those who like to smile, think beyond the usual and love having art around.

It reflects the beauty of life as seen in the abstract, movement, nature, shadows, spirals, one's imagination, labyrinths. I share my art with you for your home, lifestyle, workspace...your mind.

Those concepts are expressed through drawings, paintings and photographs.

From age five through my sophomore year in high school, I took art classes at The Newark Museum of Art (NMOA). During my freshman year at Arts High School, Newark, the first high school in the United States specializing in the visual and performing arts, I knew I was in my creative element.

Visual arts was my concentration at Brown University, Providence, R.I. I also studied art at Miami Ad School @ Portfolio Center, Atlanta; School of Visual Arts (SVA); The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art; and The Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art (NSFIA).

I was a legal photographer with Davis & Wearing Law Firm and Education Law Center (ELC), Newark; Independence High School, Newark, Photography Instructor; with the Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs, research assistant for creation of New Visions Gallery of Contemporary Art, and Young Audiences of Atlanta, Inc., as Arts Education Grants Steward and Manager of Programs Scheduling. I started and operated Teaching Artists' booking services Absolute Art, Inc. and ArtsNetwork, Inc., Atlanta.

Partial list of art exhibitions include The Studio Museum in Harlem, NYC; City Without Walls Gallery (cWOW), Newark; American Museum of Natural History, NYC; Hunterdon Art Museum, N.J.; NMOA; Portfolio Center; Brown University David Winton Bell Gallery.
